New York Mets

CitiField, New York

August 22, 2009 : Phillies 4, Mets 1

Yes, two games in two days - the 69 celebration was too good to pass up.

Alas, unlike in 69, pitchers no longer go 9 innings - Tim Redding is lifted after 5 innings of 1 hit ball

and the relief pitcher starts the 6th by walking Victorino and giving up a homer to Utley.

(How did Dyer get into this photo op?)

August 21, 2009 : Mets 4,  Phillies 2

The New York Mets, aka the Buffalo Bisons, with Wright, Reyes, Delgado, Beltran on the DL

defeat the Phillies behind a sterling performance by Mike Pelfry.

After a 1+ hour rain delay, we settle into great seats in the front row in left field for a wonderful game.

Excellent shrimp po-boys and flounder sandwiches.

Peter gives the pizza a thumbs up.

A Rainbow Smiles On The Mets

June 28, 2009 : Yankees 3,  Mets 2

A dreary way for long time Mets fans to experience CitiField for the first time

Yankees jump to a lead in the top of the first and never relinquish it.

To add insult to injury, Mariano Rivera records his 500th save

CitiField Plusses: Good Food especially BBQ and pizza

CitiField Minuses: Limited site lines from left field bleachers - cannot see deep center nor left field.

Music way way too loud in Center Field Food Court

Fourth to last game in Shea Stadium history

A windy, rainy affair in which the Mets rally from 3 back in the 7th and 8th innings

and break the tie with a two out hit by Carlos Beltran in the bottom of the ninth

September 14, 2007 : Phillies 3, Mets 2

A historic game in Mets history - the beginning of the greatest collapse ever.

After taking a 2-0 league, Mets eventually fall in the 10th.

August 23, 2007 : Padres 9, Mets 8

One of the most exiting games I've witnessed, but alas not the desired outcome

Mets rally twice to take the lead and tie, but fall two bases short in the tenth.

Also, Joshua snags a batting practice foul ball, after positioning himself right where Dad told him to strand
